Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.1m beam and a 2.32m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in early 2017. Launched in August 2019 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in November 2019.
Exterior Design
Bacchanal's 46.95m (154ft) profile is unmistakably Benetti, with a long sheerline, balanced four-deck arrangement and clean horizontal glazing that keeps the emphasis on proportion rather than dramatic styling. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she carries just under 500GT, making efficient use of her internal volume while retaining the reassuring presence expected of a full-displacement yacht.
The main deck is where the design becomes more interesting. Instead of treating the cockpit, dining area and saloon as separate spaces, full-width frameless sliding glass doors allow them to open into one continuous veranda overlooking the sea. Matching teak decking with black caulking runs from the exterior into the saloon, reducing the visual break between inside and outside and making the whole deck feel like a single living space. It's a simple idea, but one that defines how the yacht is used.
The same thinking continues across the exterior decks. The upper deck provides several seating areas instead of one large lounge, allowing guests to spread out throughout the day, while the sundeck combines dining for 12 with a custom Sicis mosaic pool, sunpads and additional seating forward. Rather than placing the pool right at the bow, it is set slightly aft, leaving room for another quiet seating area with open views ahead. Even the exterior furniture was designed specifically for Bacchanal, reinforcing the yacht's bespoke nature.
Interior Design
Bacchanal's interior avoids fashionable statements in favour of materials chosen to age well. Mauricio Gómez de Tuddo worked with the Benetti Interior Style Department to create a calm palette of wengé timber, oak furniture, grey and charcoal fabrics, leather and natural stone, with furniture supplied by Italian makers including Minotti, Giorgetti, Rimadesio, Poltrona Frau, Paola Lenti and Exteta.
The main saloon takes full advantage of the yacht's exceptional glazing. Reportedly the largest single panes of glass fitted to a Benetti at the time, they fill the room with daylight and keep the sea in view from almost every seat. Instead of interrupting that outlook with a formal dining room, the saloon remains open, allowing attention to stay on the views outside and strengthening the connection with the adjoining veranda.
Material choices are consistent throughout the yacht. Wengé parquet continues into the owner's bathroom and skylounge, while guest bathrooms use white Thassos marble across the floors, walls and shower trays, contrasted by dark granite vanity tops and bronze fittings. Artwork collected during the owners' travels gives each space a more personal feel, complementing an interior that is designed to be lived in rather than simply admired.
Accommodation
Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests across six cabins, with the owner's suite occupying the forward end of the main deck. Accessed through a private study, it forms a self-contained apartment that enjoys both privacy and uninterrupted views through the hull-side glazing.
The remaining accommodation is split across the upper and lower decks. Two VIP cabins and two guest cabins occupy the lower deck, while a further VIP cabin sits on the upper deck alongside the captain's accommodation, providing additional privacy for family members or long-stay guests. Rather than creating a hierarchy between guest cabins, Bacchanal uses the same materials, finishes and design language throughout, giving every cabin the same calm, understated atmosphere.
Crew accommodation for seven is arranged across five cabins, with the engineer's cabin positioned in the lazarette to improve access to the machinery spaces without affecting the guest layout.
Performance & Capabilities
Motor yacht Bacchanal was designed for extended cruising rather than outright speed. Twin MTU 12V2000 M72 diesel engines deliver a cruising speed of 14 knots and a maximum speed of 14.5 knots, while a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots gives her genuine transoceanic capability.
Several engineering details support that long-range role. An unusual gearbox arrangement allows both propeller shafts to be driven by a single engine during economical passages, reducing fuel consumption without sacrificing control. Naiad stabilisers improve comfort underway and at anchor, while a forward-looking 3D sonar can detect underwater hazards more than 500m ahead of the yacht. Large-capacity watermakers, enhanced engine-room ventilation with commercial-grade salt-mist filtration and carefully protected electrical systems all reflect a yacht intended to spend long periods away from marinas.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Ensuring everyone on board can enjoy the water to the fullest, luxury yacht Bacchanal offers a large beach club connected to a swim platform, with plenty of space for lounging and soaking up the sea views. The yacht features a tender garage with storage for a range of toys and accessories. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
