Designed by Valentin Design for the exterior, Aberton Yachts for the general arrangement, and engineered by Eureka Yachts, the 50m Bering 165 marks a significant step for the builder’s Superyacht division.
A New Entry in the Sub-500GT Explorer Segment
Positioned as the largest model in the yard’s current portfolio, the Bering 165 introduces a sub-500GT platform with a stated gross tonnage of 499GT across five decks. With a 9-meter beam, the Bering yacht is designed to deliver the internal scale of a larger vessel while remaining within regulatory thresholds that are often attractive to private owners and charter operators.
The project reflects a clear focus on long-range capability. Bering has built its reputation on steel-hulled explorer yachts, and the B165 continues that direction with a displacement platform intended for extended, self-sufficient cruising. Delivery of the first hull is scheduled for 2029, following the contract signing earlier this year.
Owners are increasingly looking for platforms that can support extended voyages. In this context, we believe the B165 is very well positioned. With its concept, engineering approach, and the fact that it is being built in a shipyard with strong production standards, we believe it can effectively meet this growing demand in the market."

Early market response has been strong. The first unit was sold prior to the keel laying, and discussions for subsequent hulls are already underway, signaling confidence in both the concept and the shipyard’s move into larger tonnage.
Layout Versatility at the Core of the Design
Interior planning introduces an asymmetrical main salon, increasing usable beam and creating a wider social area. The beach club extends the yacht’s connection to the water, reinforcing its role as a platform for extended time onboard rather than short-term cruising.
The general arrangement centers on flexibility. Owners can opt for a private layout with five guest staterooms and a dedicated owner’s deck, or a six-cabin configuration suited to charter use.
A key feature of the superyacht is the owner’s deck, which spans close to 70 square meters. This level includes a full-beam master suite, en-suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe, and a private lounge or study. Practical elements such as a pantry and dumbwaiter service are integrated into the layout, while an aft terrace adds outdoor space with a Jacuzzi, sunbeds, and seating.
Elsewhere, the bridge deck is arranged as a hybrid operational and social zone. Alongside the wheelhouse, the space incorporates an indoor-outdoor lounge, bar, and an open-air cinema setup with a firepit. A crow’s nest lookout above provides panoramic views, adding a functional vantage point often associated with expedition yachts.
Future-Ready Systems and Hybrid Preparation
Performance figures align with the yacht’s explorer brief. Twin 1,300hp Caterpillar engines are expected to deliver a cruising speed of 10 knots and a top speed of 15 knots. With a fuel capacity of 70,000 liters, the B165 is projected to achieve a range exceeding 5,000 nautical miles at economical speed.
This range places transoceanic passages well within reach without the need for frequent refueling stops, a key requirement for owners planning remote itineraries.
Stabilization systems are specified for both underway and at-anchor comfort, addressing one of the primary concerns for long-distance cruising. The engine room has also been designed with future upgrades in mind, including reserved space for hybrid propulsion systems and battery storage. This approach provides flexibility as propulsion technology evolves, without requiring major structural changes later in the motor yacht’s lifecycle.
A Growing Order Book Across the Explorer Range
According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Bering Yachts currently has 10 yachts either in build or on order. At the entry level of its steel range, the 26.2m Bering 88 has seen steady demand, with the second hull, Sayna, recently launched and reinforcing interest in compact, long-range platforms capable of 5,000 nautical miles.
Moving up, the 33.1m Bering 110 expands on this concept with greater internal volume and extended cruising capability, while the 44.5m Bering 145 pushes further into the superyacht segment with accommodation for up to 12 guests across six cabins. Together, these models underline a consistent focus on steel construction, practical layouts, and transoceanic range, forming a clear progression that now culminates in the flagship Bering 165.
With its first hull already sold and additional units under discussion, the Bering 165 appears to be gaining traction at an early stage. As construction progresses toward its 2029 delivery, it will serve as a benchmark for how Bering Yachts scales its explorer DNA into the larger superyacht segment.
