Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 29'6" beam and a 8'4" draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the Bering 165 design.

Exterior Design

The Bering 165 has a true displacement explorer profile, prioritising range, load-carrying ability, and all-weather capability. The hull form is long and full-bodied, with a pronounced sense of mass carried consistently from bow to stern, reflecting the yacht’s transoceanic intent.

The sheer line is long and restrained, running almost flat along the hull with only modest rise toward the bow. This lack of exaggerated sheer reinforces the yacht’s utilitarian character and supports internal volume distribution across multiple decks. Freeboard is generous throughout, particularly forward, contributing to dry decks, increased interior headroom, and safe operations in heavy seas.

At the bow, the stem shows moderate rakeand the entry appears fine enough for steady passage-making while retaining buoyancy forward, consistent with a displacement yacht designed to maintain comfort and predictability at lower cruising speeds. The forefoot sits deep, supporting directional stability and reducing hobby-horsing during long passages.

Hull sides are near-vertical amidships, maximising usable interior volume within the sub-500 GT envelope. The topsides taper gradually aft, avoiding abrupt transitions and supporting balanced weight distribution. Hull openings are minimal and purpose-led, with rectangular windows set into the lower deck, signalling guest accommodation while preserving hull integrity and structural continuity.

The superstructure rises in clearly articulated tiers across five decks, producing a classic explorer “stacked” profile. Each level steps back progressively, maintaining clear deck overhangs and shaded exterior zones while visually reducing the yacht’s height. Strong horizontal lines dominate the profile, reinforcing length and stability rather than speed.

Glazing is extensive but disciplined. Continuous dark window bands wrap around the main, owner’s, and bridge decks, improving sightlines and supporting near 360° visibility without breaking the hull’s visual strength. The glazing appears flush-set, reducing wind resistance and simplifying maintenance for extended cruising.

Aft, the yacht finishes in a broad, working stern rather than a leisure-focused beach club. The transom geometry prioritises tender handling, storage, and operational access, with clear deck space and load-bearing capability. This supports the deployment of tenders, rescue craft, and equipment via cranes and davits rather than folding terraces or ornamental platforms.

Interior Design

The interior of Bering 165 is arranged to support extended periods on board, prioritising usability, privacy, and clear circulation over decorative impact. With interiors by Valentin Design in collaboration with the owner’s team and Aberton Yachts, the layout reflects long-range living rather than charter-led entertaining.

Across all decks, the interior benefits from the yacht’s near-vertical hull sides and generous beam, allowing rooms to feel broad and practical rather than corridor-led. Large windows on the main, owner’s, and bridge decks reinforce visibility and situational awareness, aligning with the yacht’s explorer brief.

Accommodation

The owner benefits from a dedicated private deck, functioning as a self-contained apartment rather than a single suite. This level includes interior lounge space, a large stateroom with adjoining bathroom, and direct access to exterior areas. A private pantry, supplied by a dumbwaiter from the galley below, allows meals to be served discreetly without guest-area traffic. Exterior spaces on this deck include alfresco dining, sunbathing areas, and a Jacuzzi positioned forward.

Guest accommodation is located on the lower deck, with three guest cabins providing comfortable quarters for extended stays. This placement maintains separation from the owner while keeping guests close to the yacht’s centre of motion.

Crew accommodation is also located on the lower deck and includes four cabins, supporting up to nine crew members plus additional personnel such as a guide or nanny. Crew spaces are designed for long deployments, with dedicated mess areas and direct operational access.

A defining feature of the layout is the centreline crew walkway on the tank deck, allowing crew to move between accommodation and engine spaces without passing through guest areas.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32) 1,300hp engines, motor yacht Bering 165 / 01 is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 17,171 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
