The new model sits in the middle of the Apreamare Gozzo range and was developed by Cataldo Aprea, with Marco Casali of Too Design responsible for the design and styling. Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design handled the naval architecture in collaboration with the shipyard’s technical office.
A sharper look for the next Gozzo
The visual shift is one of the clearest parts of the new model’s brief. Apreamare says the hull, deckhouse, and windows have all been redesigned, giving the Gozzo 42 a more dynamic profile and a sportier overall look than earlier boats in the range.
That update appears most clearly in the hardtop, which gives the boat a cleaner silhouette and can be paired with an optional glass windscreen for greater protection underway. The helm station has also been reshaped, with a more sculpted form and a revised ergonomic layout, while optional air conditioning at the driving position points to a stronger focus on day-long comfort in hot-weather cruising grounds.

Even with those changes, the Gozzo 42 stays closely linked to the rest of the series. The goal here is not to move away from the line’s roots, but to reinterpret them in a way that feels more current, more practical, and more aligned with how owners now use this size of Mediterranean cruiser.
Deck spaces built around time outdoors
As with the rest of the Gozzo line, much of the Gozzo 42’s appeal lies in how it uses exterior space. Apreamare has placed a strong focus on social areas, with the cockpit centered around a 200-centimeter sunpad at the stern and a generous C-shaped sofa that can seat up to eight guests.
A second lounge area in the bow adds another layer to the deck plan of the yacht, with facing sofas and an additional sunpad giving owners a quieter place to sit away from the main entertaining zone aft. Shade has clearly been thought through as well. Both the cockpit and foredeck sunpad can be covered by awnings connected to the T-top and supported by carbon fiber poles, a practical detail for peak summer use.
The outdoor amenities are equally central to the boat’s role. The wet bar can be configured around the owner’s preferences and fitted with two 85-liter refrigerators, an ice maker, and a choice of barbecue, grill, or induction cooking surfaces, along with dedicated tableware storage. A stern platform of almost six square meters adds another useful layer to the setup, with a retractable swim ladder and a tender lift system built in.
A brighter, more usable lower deck
Below deck, the Gozzo 42 is arranged to make the most of the volume available within a moderate 4.2-meter beam. Apreamare describes the interiors of the motor yacht as bright and comfort-led, with the main cabin set within an open-plan layout that can still be closed off from the living area by a door when privacy is needed.
That owner’s cabin also gets two large full-height wardrobes and additional storage compartments, suggesting a boat that is expected to handle more than occasional day use. The optional second cabin, positioned aft, includes twin berths measuring 200 by 95 centimeters and tall storage units running along the wall.
Natural light appears to be a major part of the interior concept of the dayboat. Apreamare says the sleeping area benefits from new hull and deck windows, intended to bring more daylight into the lower deck spaces and make the accommodation feel more open than the dimensions might suggest.
Quiet improvements in key systems
The Gozzo 42 uses a variable-geometry hull with skegs and is designed to support either conventional in-line shaft drives or Volvo Penta IPS units. That choice gives owners room to tailor the boat to their priorities, whether that means a more traditional mechanical setup or the maneuverability and efficiency benefits associated with pod drives.
Engine options include twin /engines/volvo-penta/volvo-penta-ips shaft-drive installations rated at either 380hp or 480hp, along with IPS packages at 500hp or 600hp. Apreamare quotes top speeds ranging from 27 to 36 knots depending on configuration, with cruising speeds between 22 and 27 knots.
Fuel capacity stands at 1,200 liters, which the builder says is one of the largest tanks in the category. With capacity for up to 14 people on board, the new model is pitched as a boat with enough volume and capability for fuller day programs and more ambitious coastal passages, rather than just short harbor runs.
Positioned at the center of the Gozzo range
The new Gozzo 42 arrives in the middle of a now well-defined Apreamare Gozzo lineup, and that position may prove to be one of its biggest strengths. Below it, the 11.2-meter Gozzo 35 remains the more compact, simpler entry into the range, aimed at buyers who want the open Mediterranean feel in a smaller package with a single-cabin layout. The 11.45-meter Gozzo 38 Cabin shifts the focus toward year-round use, adding more shelter and a two-cabin interior better suited to extended use in less predictable conditions.
Above the new boat, the Gozzo 45 stretches the open walkaround concept into a larger 14.7-meter platform with up to three cabins and stronger cruising capability, while the Gozzo 48 Cabin serves as the flagship with the most developed interior program, broader cruising brief, and the option of two or three cabins plus crew accommodation.
That leaves the Gozzo 42 occupying a useful space between the compact end of the range and the larger 45 and 48 Cabin models. It brings a more updated design language, stronger deck usability, and flexible propulsion choices to a part of the lineup that should appeal to buyers who want the spirit of the Gozzo line in a format that still feels manageable, social, and easy to use.
