Design & Construction

Designed around a fast displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8m beam and a 1.98m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 296 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2020 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project Unity'. This was the eighth yacht built on the ThirtySix design. Launched in March 2025 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Mulder 's Mulder Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk yard in Netherlands where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in May 2025.

Exterior Design

Castlefinn is a 36m (118.1ft) Mulder ThirtySix, a full-aluminium motor yacht with exterior design by Claydon Reeves and naval architecture by Van Oossanen. The profile is low, clean and modern, with a plumb bow, slim 8m (26.2ft) beam and long waterline that give the yacht a stretched, efficient look. Hull number eight also introduces a revised grey colour scheme across the hull and superstructure, which sharpens the lines and gives the Mulder ThirtySix a stronger visual presence than the earlier white-finished boats.

The exterior is built around usable open space rather than visual drama for its own sake. The foredeck has been reworked into a proper private lounge with a deep U-shaped sofa and sunbeds, so it functions as a second living area rather than just a transit space. A folding balcony beside the main dining area opens the yacht further to the sea, and the open stern leads directly to the beach club platform for easier embarkation and time at the water.

Up top, the sundeck is one of the main social areas on board. A 2.25m (7.4ft) seven-person spa pool sits alongside a large sunpad, while the bar, dining table and lounging areas make the deck usable for a full day outside. The wheelhouse and flybridge steering position sit within the same level, so the deck retains practical cruising function as well as guest use.

The Mulder ThirtySix platform also hides a serious toy-carrying brief inside a relatively slender hull. A transverse garage is designed to take a 6.25m (20.5ft) Williams Dieseljet tender, two jet skis, kayaks, Seabobs and dive gear, which is no small feat on a yacht that still keeps such a clean profile.

Interior Design

The interior of Castlefinn is by Roelfien Vos, and it leans toward what Mulder calls barefoot luxury. That is a fair description here, because the finish is rich without feeling formal. Oak interiors, timber floors, light fabrics, leather accents, rattan wall coverings and carefully worked metal detailing give the yacht a warmer and more tactile feel than many yachts in this size range.

The main deck is arranged around openness and light. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the saloon, dining room and bar area, so daylight runs deep into the interior and the views stay present throughout the main living spaces. The dining experience gets another lift from the fold-out side balcony, which brings the sea right alongside the table and helps the room feel less enclosed.

Roelfien Vos’ approach is not about heavy contrast or visual noise. The palette is calm, the detailing is fine, and the emphasis is on materials that feel good at close range as well as from across the room. That matters on a yacht like this, because the spaces are designed for long periods on board.

The layout also adds flexibility. One room can convert for different uses and there is a gym in the arrangement as well, so Castlefinn offers more day-to-day adaptability than the earlier sisterships. Taken together, the interior feels lighter, more open and more relaxed than the typical high-gloss formal yacht interior, while still carrying the finish level expected from a Dutch semi-custom build.

Accommodation

Castlefinn accommodates 10 guests across five cabins, with a full-beam master suite and four additional guest staterooms.

The owner’s suite sits on the main deck and uses the full beam of the yacht. Its standout feature is direct access to a private seating area in the bow, which gives the owner a separate outdoor retreat linked straight to the suite. That is a rare arrangement on a 36m yacht and one that adds real day-to-day value rather than just brochure appeal.

Guest accommodation below includes two convertible VIP cabins and two double staterooms. That mix gives the Mulder ThirtySix more flexibility for families, couples or mixed charter groups, and it avoids locking the yacht into one guest type. Panoramic glazing and the yacht’s clean window line help keep the cabins bright and outward-looking rather than tucked away.

Crew accommodation is for six, and the overall arrangement is designed to support discreet service while keeping the guest areas quiet and uncluttered.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C-18) 1,150hp engines, motor yacht Castlefinn is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots.
