Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement w/ bulbous bow steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.45m beam and a 2.9m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2015. This was the second yacht built on the 52Steel design. Launched in March 2018 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Sanlorenzo's La Spezia yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in June 2018.
Exterior Design
The 53m (173.9ft) Sanlorenzo yacht Alulim is built on the Steel52 platform but was extended during construction to create a larger swim platform and improved tender handling aft. Exterior styling comes from Officina Italiana Design, with long dark glazing bands running through the white superstructure and giving the yacht a low, flowing profile despite her internal volume.
The stern arrangement forms one of the yacht’s defining areas. A glass-bottom infinity pool sits above the beach club, so natural light filters down through the ceiling into the lounge and gym below. Fold-down terraces open out to port and starboard as well, widening the beach club directly over the water while the floodable garage allows the 7.5m (24.6ft) limousine tender to drive in and out without cranes or lifting systems.
The extended swim platform improves waterside access and gives more working room during tender operations. Reinforced aft bollards were also added for stern-to and rock mooring setups, reflecting the yacht’s focus on practical Mediterranean cruising.
Outdoor guest areas are spread across several decks. The upper aft deck includes sheltered al fresco dining linked to the upper salon bar, while the sundeck carries a Jacuzzi, sit-up bar, grill, sunpads and open lounge seating. Forward, the foredeck creates another private relaxation space with built-in seating and sunbathing areas.
Interior Design
The interior by Tiziana Vercellesi combines contemporary Sanlorenzo architecture with heavily customised decorative work. Silk wallcoverings, embroidery, ebony veneers, mother-of-pearl inlays, marble surfaces and crystal detailing appear throughout the guest spaces, while loose furniture from Fendi softens the more structured architectural elements.
A floating staircase forms the visual centre of the yacht. The stairwell rises through the decks with embroidered silk peony wallcoverings and a sculptural glass centrepiece, so the circulation spaces become part of the interior design rather than simple transitions between decks.
The main salon and dining space use chequered parquet flooring and broad glazing to create a lighter atmosphere than many yachts in this size range. A bar sits within the open-plan layout while the professional galley remains fully separated behind the dining area in stainless steel finishes.
The upper salon has a more relaxed feel, arranged with a wine cooler, bar and direct access to the sheltered aft dining deck. Across the yacht, large windows keep strong visual contact with the sea, including opening windows within the owner’s suite that allow natural airflow and outside sound into the cabin.
The beach club continues the same indoor-outdoor approach. Light from the pool above filters into the lower deck space, where freestanding furniture, a bar and a Technogym-equipped fitness area create a second social hub close to the water.
Accommodation
Alulim accommodates up to 12 guests across six cabins, with accommodation for up to 11 crew members in five crew cabins.
The full-beam owner’s suite sits forward on the main deck and includes a private office area, large landscape windows and a spacious ensuite finished with embroidered orchid and peony silk wallcoverings. The owner’s windows were customised to open, which is unusual on a yacht of this size and allows fresh air directly into the suite.
Guest accommodation on the lower deck includes two VIP cabins and two additional guest cabins that can convert between double and twin arrangements with Pullman berths. Decorative themes vary between cabins, with bamboo forest, fish and butterfly silk wallcoverings giving each room its own character without losing the wider interior style.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 4000 M63) 12-cylinder 1,900hp engines, motor yacht Alulim is capable of reaching a top speed of 18 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 55,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
Amenities
In addition, a beach club allows for easy access to the water and allows those on board to easily unwind. The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Alulim also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
