- Foredeck touch-and-go helipad
- Beach Lounge with cinema and spa
Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 12.5m beam and a 3.6m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 2,175 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2022. This was the first yacht built on the Amels 80 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in April 2025 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Amels' Damen Shipyard Galati yard in Romania where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in October 2025.
Exterior Design
At 80m (262.5ft), the first Amels 80 Pangea carries a high, near-vertical bow, long uninterrupted hull sides and a stack of dark-glazed upper decks that sit well aft. Espen Øino has kept the lines clean, so the yacht looks substantial without relying on a lot of surface detail.
The bow is particularly striking from ahead. Its width is carried a long way forward and the deck above stays largely clear, which gives the certified helipad a proper working footprint rather than squeezing it into a guest area. It is rated for touch-and-go operations by helicopters up to 4,000kg.
Aft, the yacht opens out through several large terraces. The night aerials show how much of Pangea’s upper half is given over to outdoor space, with broad decks stepping down towards the stern rather than ending in one large cockpit. That arrangement gives the exterior a very different feel depending on where you are on board, while keeping the aft sightlines open.
The 200m² (2,153ft²) sundeck is one of the biggest spaces on the yacht. A circular Jacuzzi sits on the centreline with loungers spread around it, while sliding glass screens forward can provide shelter without closing the deck off. There is enough clear floor area around the furniture for the deck to work as a proper social space rather than simply a sunbathing platform.
Another Jacuzzi sits forward, giving guests a more private position away from the main aft terraces. That separation is useful on a yacht carrying 14 guests because the exterior does not depend on one large communal deck for everyone.
Pangea also has a hybrid propulsion system, which supports more than one operating mode and reduces the yacht’s dependence on conventional diesel running alone. The exterior design and engineering are closely linked here: the yacht carries a great deal of deck area, but the hull and superstructure remain visually controlled rather than overloaded.
Interior Design
Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design has taken a quieter approach inside Pangea, with natural tones, soft finishes and large open rooms rather than heavy decorative themes. It is Sinot’s first collaboration with Amels, and the interior feels very different from the more imposing exterior.
The main saloon is arranged as a broad informal living room, with low seating and enough open floor area for people to move through without cutting across the furniture. Large windows keep the room connected to the decks outside, which matters on a yacht where so much of the layout is built around exterior living.
Further aft, the beach lounge is one of the more useful interior spaces. It can open on three sides, so it sits somewhere between an indoor saloon and a covered waterside terrace depending on the weather. A surround-sound cinema system gives the room another job when it is closed up.
The wellness centre sits just forward of the beach lounge and includes a gym, hammam, sauna and massage area. Grouping these facilities together at water level makes far more sense than scattering them across the yacht, and it creates a dedicated part of the interior for exercise and spa use.
Accommodation
Pangea accommodates 14 guests in seven suites, with the owner given an entire private deck rather than a conventional main-deck cabin.
That owner’s level covers 517m² (5,565ft²), which is an extraordinary amount of private space even on an 80m (262.5ft) yacht. The scale allows the suite to work as a self-contained part of the yacht, with its own indoor and outdoor areas rather than simply a bedroom and bathroom behind a set of doors.
The remaining six guest suites are all on the main deck, keeping guest accommodation together on one level. Large windows bring natural light into the cabins, while the VIP suite has a flexible layout that can be adapted for different guest or family arrangements.
This split between a private owner’s deck and a dedicated guest deck gives the accommodation a very clear structure. Guests stay together, while the owner has a separate level with far greater privacy.
Crew capacity is 21, which is in line with the service demands of a yacht carrying 14 guests across several large deck and leisure areas.
Performance & Capabilities
Pangea is powered by twin Caterpillar 3516E diesels producing 2,816hp each at 1,600rpm.
Top speed is 16 knots, while cruising speed is 12 knots. With 210,000 litres of fuel, the Amels 80 has a quoted maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
The hybrid propulsion system adds another layer to that machinery package, allowing Pangea to operate in different modes depending on whether efficiency, lower-impact running or conventional propulsion takes priority.
The combination suits the yacht’s role well. Pangea has the range for long passages, but the layout is clearly designed around spending extended periods at anchor once she arrives, with huge exterior decks, the beach lounge, wellness centre, helipad and multiple private outdoor areas all supporting that kind of use.
