Design & Construction
Designed around a planing aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8m beam and a 1.8m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 297 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in early 2006. Launched in July 2008 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in March 2009.
Exterior Design
The Admiral 40 Mado measures 39.25m (128.8ft), and her exterior leans hard into the fast-planing brief, with a long profile, a sharp bow, and a black-and-grey livery that gives the yacht a much more aggressive look than a typical white tri-deck. The Super Jet black hull dominates the profile, while the Haze grey upper works and dark glazing pull the superstructure into one continuous band, so the yacht reads as sleek and fast even at anchor.
The hull is built in aluminium and sits on a planing form with a shallow draft of 1.8m (5.9ft), which supports higher speeds and easier access to cruising grounds where deeper yachts start to lose freedom. The profile is clean and stretched, with a raked foredeck, low rail lines, and a strong horizontal emphasis that keeps visual weight down despite the 8m (26.2ft) beam.
Outdoor space is one of the main strengths of this Admiral 40 yacht. Total exterior deck space comes to 160.11m² (1,723.4ft²), including a sundeck of 61.59m² (662.9ft²), a main deck exterior of 78.84m² (848.6ft²), and a swim platform of 19.68m² (211.8ft²). The sundeck is configured as a proper social deck, with four sunbeds, a full-beam sofa, a corner sofa, a dining table, a coffee table, and a bar, so it works for sunbathing, drinks, and open-air dining without feeling overfilled.
The swim platform is large for a yacht in this size bracket, and the setup includes a beach bar, direct water access, and easy launching support for the 5.5m (18ft) Castoldi jet tender. Deck gear is substantial too, with twin 240kg anchors, 165m (541.3ft) chains, Maxwell windlasses and capstans, a 4m (13.1ft) passerelle, a 600kg bow crane, and a 1,400kg garage crane, all of which back up the yacht’s fast-cruising image with serious practical capability.
Interior Design
Inside, Mado balances the assertive exterior with a more polished, contemporary interior by Luca Dini Design, and the numbers show just how much internal volume is available for a 39m planing yacht. Total interior space is 281.72m² (3,032.4ft²), including 177.95m² (1,915.4ft²) on the main deck alone, so the yacht has the scale to feel much more substantial than many fast aluminium builds in this range.
Accommodation
Mado accommodates up to 10 guests in five cabins according to the standard guest layout, though the wider documentation also references accommodation for 11 with a Pullman in the twin, so the practical sleeping flexibility is slightly broader.
The owner’s suite is positioned on the main deck and measures 24.11m² (259.5ft²), giving it better privacy, better access, and a stronger sense of separation from the guest deck below. It is supported by an office on the main deck, which adds to the owner’s area without breaking the main social flow.
On the lower deck, the guest accommodation totals 51.9m² (558.7ft²) and includes a VIP stateroom of 13.8m² (148.5ft²), a second VIP stateroom also at 13.8m² (148.5ft²), a twin cabin of 12.6m² (135.6ft²), and a double cabin of 11.7m² (125.9ft²). The accommodation summary also notes three double staterooms and one twin with Pullman on the lower deck, which aligns with the broader five-cabin, family-and-charter-friendly setup.
Crew accommodation is arranged for up to eight crew in four cabins, including two doubles, one triple, and a captain’s cabin.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 4000 M90) 16-cylinder 2,285hp engines running at 2100rpm, motor yacht Mado is capable of reaching a top speed of 31 knots, and comfortably cruises at 28 knots. With her 34,736 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 800 nautical miles at an economic speed of 24 knots. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort.
