Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement fiberglass hull and a GRP superstructure she features a 7.47m beam and a 2.01m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 275 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the second yacht built on the Grande 36M design.
Exterior Design
Luz de Mar is an Azimut Grande 36M, and the profile reflects Alberto Mancini’s clean, low stance with long horizontal lines and a clear focus on open sightlines. The hull carries a sculpted form with dark glazing that stretches across the main and upper decks, so the superstructure reads as one continuous band. This gives the yacht a lower visual centre of gravity while also pulling more light into the interior.
The standout feature is the semi-walkaround upper deck. This deck runs almost full length on a single level, so movement flows from stern to near the bow without interruption. It changes how the yacht is used, as guests can move freely across the upper deck while staying connected to the sea on both sides. The skylounge sits within this space and uses fully retractable side windows, so the enclosure can open into a terrace. When open, the boundary between inside and outside fades, and the deck works as one large social area.
Aft, the transom folds down to form a beach club, which links directly to a 30m² cockpit. This creates a clear connection to the water, and it also gives a practical launch point for swimming and toys. Forward, the bow carries a 46m² (495ft²) guest area with a glass-fronted pool, sunpads, and seating, so it works as a second main social zone. The foredeck sits high above the waterline, which keeps views open while adding privacy from the dock.
The superstructure uses a high proportion of carbon fibre, so weight drops and the yacht can support larger openings and wider decks without losing strength. This also feeds into the D2P® Displacement-to-Planing hull, which balances efficiency and speed while reducing fuel burn and emissions.
Interior Design
The interior, designed by Achille Salvagni, follows the same open approach as the exterior. Large sections of glazing bring in natural light, and full-height windows on the main deck remove visual breaks, so the main salon feels wide and connected to the sea. This aligns with the idea that interior design on yachts must work with structure and light, not fight it, as window placement and layout drive the experience onboard .
The skylounge is a key space. With the side windows fully open, it becomes an extension of the deck rather than a closed room. This gives it two roles, as it can act as a sheltered lounge or an open terrace depending on conditions. That flexibility reflects a wider shift in yacht interiors toward adaptable spaces rather than fixed layouts.
Materials and layout follow practical needs as much as style. The use of carbon fibre above reduces weight, so designers can open up volumes and introduce larger glazing sections without compromising stability. Inside, the arrangement focuses on clear circulation paths and usable living space, while storage and systems stay integrated to avoid clutter.
Accommodation
Superyacht Luz de Mar accommodates up to 10 guests across five suites, with a crew of up to six handling operations and service.
The owner’s suite sits on the main deck, which allows for larger windows and stronger connection to the outside. Guest cabins are located on the lower deck, where the beam of the yacht supports full-width layouts and en suite facilities.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V2000) 2,400hp engines, motor yacht Luz de Mar is capable of reaching a top speed of 24 knots, and comfortably cruises at 18 knots. With her 1,896 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 500 nautical miles. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
