  • Dedicated owner's deck
  • Sea View Terrace
  • Firepit bow lounge

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement GRP hull and a carbon fibre superstructure she features a 8.67m beam and a 2.05m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 430 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the Grande 44M design. Launched in July 2026 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

Shabby introduces the new Grande 44M platform and, as the first yacht delivered in the series, sets the benchmark for Azimut's new flagship. The project builds on the yard's move into larger yachts, where models above 24m now account for most of its production, while seven Grande 44Ms had already found buyers before the first hull entered the water. Alberto Mancini's exterior takes full advantage of the platform, using long horizontal lines, deeply recessed glazing and a clean four-deck profile that disguises the yacht's size without losing the presence expected of a 44m flagship.

The defining feature is the dedicated wheelhouse deck. Extensive use of carbon fibre across more than half the yacht's structure removes around eight tonnes from the upper works, allowing the bridge to move onto its own level and freeing the entire upper deck for the owner. That single engineering decision reshapes the yacht, creating a private owner's deck with broad terraces and uninterrupted views while preserving stability, performance and the low profile that defines the Grande range.

The aft decks continue Azimut's Sea View Terrace concept on a much larger scale. A transparent plunge pool sits above the beach club, allowing light to reach the wellness area below while keeping a visual link with the water. Wide terraces step down towards the sea, and generous deck spaces avoid the compartmentalised feel often found aboard yachts of this size. Forward, the bow becomes another destination with a large lounge centred around a firepit, while low bulwarks and full-height glazing strengthen the connection between the interior and the sea.

The Grande 44M also introduces several technologies that shape the yacht as much as her styling. Hull Vane® foil technology, developed with the Dutch company of the same name, uses a lightweight carbon fibre foil beneath the stern to reduce drag, suppress the stern wave and improve comfort by reducing pitch and roll. Beneath the waterline, the Dual Mode hull developed with P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture blends a fast-displacement bow with a semi-planing stern, giving the yacht efficient cruising across a broad speed range instead of favouring one operating profile.

Interior Design

The unconventional deck arrangement gives m²atelier an opportunity that rarely exists on a yacht of this size. With the bridge moved above, the owner's suite occupies its own private deck instead of sharing space with operational areas, while the surrounding rooms remain flexible enough to change with each owner's style of cruising.

Forward on the owner's deck, the space can serve as a formal dining room for twelve, a private media lounge or an additional entertaining area. Full-height glazing wraps around the superstructure and opens onto the bow terrace, where the firepit creates another social space that feels closely connected to the interior. Throughout the yacht, m²atelier favours warm natural materials, restrained detailing and uncluttered architecture, allowing light, views and proportion to define the atmosphere rather than decorative excess.

Technology also plays a direct role in onboard comfort. The Mild Hybrid system, developed by the Azimut|Benetti Group with Asea Nautica, allows hotel services to operate from battery power while at anchor, eliminating generator noise for several hours. Thirty square metres of solar panels contribute to the yacht's electrical demand, while the batteries recharge during normal cruising, allowing the system to work with little intervention from the crew.

Accommodation

Shabby accommodates up to 10 guests in five suites with quarters for five crew. The dedicated owner's deck transforms the accommodation layout, giving the principal suite complete separation from the guest cabins and direct access to its own outdoor spaces, an arrangement normally associated with much larger yachts.

Four additional guest suites occupy the lower deck, where the yacht's broad beam allows generous cabin dimensions and wide circulation spaces. Large hull windows bring daylight deep into the accommodation, while ensuite bathrooms and careful separation between guest and crew routes maintain privacy throughout the yacht.

The crew accommodation supports discreet service without intruding on guest areas, and the separation made possible by the four-deck arrangement improves day-to-day operation as much as it enhances the owner's privacy.

Performance & Capabilities

Shabby is powered by twin MAN V12 diesel engines that deliver a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots, although the engineering story extends well beyond the propulsion package. The Grande 44M serves as the flagship of Azimut's Low Emission fleet, bringing together lightweight construction, advanced hull design and hybrid technology to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 30 per cent compared with conventional yachts of similar size.

The Mild Hybrid system pairs two 50kW electric motors with a 188kWh battery bank, allowing the yacht to remain at anchor with the generators switched off for around three to four hours during the day and up to ten hours overnight. The batteries recharge during normal passage making, while the integrated solar array further reduces generator demand.

Hull Vane® technology and the Dual Mode hull work together beneath the surface. The carbon fibre foil generates additional forward lift while reducing resistance and improving motion through the water, and the hull combines displacement and semi-planing characteristics to deliver efficiency across a wide operating range. Extensive carbon fibre construction above the waterline complements those systems by lowering the centre of gravity, allowing Azimut to create a genuine four-deck flagship without the weight penalty that would normally accompany such a layout.
