More Details

Lucky Me Yacht Academy is a 42m motor yacht for sale delivered by Italian shipyard Baglietto in 2010. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Francesco Paszkowski Design, while Baglietto is responsible for her naval architecture.

Key Features

  • 29-knot top speed
  • Saloon side balconies
  • Main-deck owner's suite
  • Twin owner's balconies

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8m beam and a 3.12m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 385 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

Lucky Me Yacht Academy has the low, fast profile that suits a 29-knot Baglietto. Francesco Paszkowski kept most of the visual weight close to the water, with a long navy-blue aluminium hull and a silver superstructure that sweeps forward in one continuous curve. The dark glazing sits inside that line rather than breaking it up, so the yacht looks considerably leaner than its 42m (137.8ft) length and 385GT volume might suggest.

The bow is long and largely free of guest furniture, with the foredeck kept clear ahead of the low wheelhouse structure. That gives the yacht a cleaner profile and leaves the larger social areas aft, where the deck levels open progressively towards the stern.

The main deck has one of Lucky Me Yacht Academy's more unusual features. Balconies open from the saloon on both sides, bringing guests closer to the water without requiring a large permanent side terrace. The owner's suite forward also has two private balconies, so the same idea is repeated in the most private part of the yacht.

Aft, the sundeck provides the main elevated guest area, with sunpads and alfresco dining positioned above the lower cockpit. It is a relatively restrained upper deck rather than another large enclosed level, which helps preserve the yacht's low profile.

The swimming platform sits close to the water at the stern and gives straightforward access for swimming and toys. Teak continues across the exterior guest decks, contrasting with the dark hull and silver upperworks.

Interior Design

The current interior keeps the basic contemporary framework originally drawn by Francesco Paszkowski, with later work carried out for the present owners with Cadena Design Group. There is no detailed record of which individual elements were changed, so the current photographs are the most useful guide to how Lucky Me Yacht Academy feels today.

The saloon uses white-painted oak and warmer timber against a strong navy-and-white furniture scheme. Two large pale sofas face inward towards a dark central coffee table, with a navy sofa forming the far side of the conversation area. The arrangement is quite formal in its symmetry, but the low furniture and broad windows stop the room feeling stiff.

Dining sits beyond the lounge rather than in a separate room, so the main deck remains open from one function to the next. Mirrors and darker gloss surfaces around the dining area add depth, while pale walls and ceiling panels keep most of the room light.

The balconies are particularly useful here. Opening the sides of the saloon gives what is otherwise a fairly traditional long main-deck layout another connection with the sea and allows natural light to reach deeper into the room.

The owner's suite is lighter still. White cabinetry, pale carpet and crisp bedding are paired with a strip of warm timber flooring towards the balcony, while a turquoise patterned feature wall adds the main colour. The full-height opening onto the private balcony is the feature that changes the room most, giving the bed direct sightlines outside.

Accommodation

Lucky Me Yacht Academy accommodates up to 12 guests across five suites, with separate quarters for eight crew in four cabins.

The full-beam owner's suite sits forward on the main deck and includes a private study, seating area, dressing room and en suite with its own wellness spa. Two private balconies extend the suite outside on either side, which is still an unusual arrangement on a 42m (137.8ft) performance yacht of this age.

The photograph of the current suite shows how directly one of those balconies connects with the bedroom. The opening is almost full height, so the exterior becomes part of the room when the door is open, while the timber threshold visually links the balcony with the warmer flooring inside.

Four further guest suites complete the accommodation. The current interior treatment continues the lighter palette through these spaces, with natural light and pale finishes doing most of the work rather than heavy decorative detailing.

Eight crew are accommodated separately across four cabins, supporting the service requirements of a yacht carrying as many as 12 guests.

Performance & Capabilities

Lucky Me Yacht Academy is built entirely in aluminium and uses a semi-displacement hull developed by Baglietto for fast cruising.

Twin MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesels produce 3,647hp each and give a top speed of 29 knots. Cruising speed is quoted at 25 knots, so this is a yacht designed to cover ground quickly rather than stretch fuel range through slow displacement cruising.

With 45,000 litres of fuel, stated range is 806 nautical miles at 25 knots. That makes her use case quite different from a long-range explorer: she is better suited to fast movement between Mediterranean cruising grounds where the next harbour or fuel stop is rarely very far away.

Bow and stern thrusters assist with manoeuvring, which is useful given the yacht's 8m (26.2ft) beam and long, low profile.

Amenities

In addition, a swim platform provides easy access to the ocean. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Lucky Me Yacht Academy also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
