Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.5m beam and a 2.41m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 245 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
La Stella Dei Mari has the proportions of a traditional small ship, with a long bow, high hull sides and a superstructure arranged in several practical levels. Guido de Groot’s exterior is quite restrained, relying on white paint, teak and stainless steel rather than strong styling gestures, and the result has aged rather well.
The main deck aft is arranged around a large curved banquette and dining table under the overhang, giving the yacht a properly sheltered outdoor dining area rather than leaving the whole cockpit exposed. Wide side decks then lead forward to another guest area built into the foredeck, with a sofa and table set well behind the bow.
Much of the upper structure is devoted to open deck. Above the main deck, the raised pilothouse sits forward while the large aft section is primarily a working tender deck. A substantial tender and smaller craft can be carried here without occupying the stern or main guest decks.
Above that is a second sundeck level, and this is where the layout becomes unusually generous for 33m. A round spa pool sits amidships with sunpads alongside, while another open seating area occupies the upper platform. The plan leaves a lot of clear teak between the fixed furniture, so guests are not squeezed around the pool simply to move from one end of the deck to the other.
The stern is more conventional, with steps down from the main aft deck towards the bathing platform. Tender stowage higher in the yacht keeps this area clear for swimming and water access.
Interior Design
La Stella Dei Mari's main deck is interesting because the saloon and formal dining room are not simply arranged as one long open space. The saloon occupies the aft part of the deck and centres on lounge seating and a semi-circular bar, while the dining room sits separately forward.
That dining room is one of the nicest spaces aboard. A round table for eight sits beneath an elaborate central light fitting, with windows wrapping around much of the room. The darker timber under the windows gives the room quite a club-like feel, but the amount of glass stops it becoming too enclosed.
There's also a substantial galley and service core between the saloon and dining room, so the two guest areas can operate independently. That separation is useful during longer stays aboard because dinner does not require the main lounge to be reset every evening.
Accommodation
La Stella Dei Mari accommodates eight guests in four en suite cabins, with accommodation for up to six crew.
The owner's suite is the largest cabin aboard and includes its own seating area and office, so there is somewhere private to work or sit without using the bed as the only alternative. The en suite continues the yacht’s more decorative interior style and includes a distinctive gold basin.
The remaining three guest suites are arranged around the same lower accommodation level, keeping the sleeping areas away from the main social deck above.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C18 DI-TA) 480hp engines, motor yacht La Stella Dei Mari is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 11 knots. With her 37,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles at 11 knots.
Leisure & Entertainment
The sundeck is the main leisure area, with the round spa pool, sunpads and additional seating spread over two levels.
The foredeck gives guests another outdoor option away from the busier stern, while the sheltered main deck aft is better suited to dining and longer evenings outside.
The raised tender deck is also worth mentioning because it prevents the yacht’s working equipment from swallowing up the guest spaces. Tenders can be carried high and aft, while swimming, dining and lounging remain distributed across the decks below and above.
