I Sea is a 41.91m motor yacht for sale delivered by American shipyard Palmer Johnson in 2014. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Palmer Johnson, while Vripack is responsible for her naval architecture.
Key Features
- Private owner's upper deck
- Aft tender garage
- Large sundeck Jacuzzi
- 2,500nm cruising range
Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8m beam and a 2m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 348 GT (Gross Tonnes).
She was delivered to her owners in December 1999.
Exterior Design
I Sea is almost unrecognisable beside the Palmer Johnson yacht she started life as. The original 123ft (37.5m) Big City was a fairly low raised-pilothouse design, with a simple deckhouse and a long row of upright main-deck windows. The rebuild took her to 41.9m (137.5ft), added a complete new deck, heavily reworked the bow and turned the yacht into a full tri-deck.
I Sea now has a much taller, more layered superstructure, with long dark window bands and a fuller bow that carries considerably more volume forward. The original yacht looked quite lean and straightforward. The present boat has much more presence, but the stepped decks and strong horizontal glazing stop the extra height becoming one solid block.
That extra deck created a separate upper level with the owner's accommodation aft, an owner's saloon amidships and the wheelhouse forward. Above that is a proper sundeck, so the rebuild changed the way the yacht works just as much as the way she looks.
The sundeck is particularly generous. A large circular Jacuzzi sits forward within a curved bank of sunpads, while the deck behind it has several separate seating groups, a dining area and bar. The overhead image shows good clear space between them too, so the deck does not feel as though every spare metre has been filled with furniture.
The stern is more workmanlike, with a lazarette and tender garage that occupy the lower aft section, and the tender stored longitudinally beneath the main saloon rather than on one of the upper guest decks. Above it, the main deck aft has a large seating area, while the upper owner's terrace and sundeck create two more outdoor levels.
I Sea's most recent 2025/2026 refit has brought the exterior up to date again. The yacht received a complete repaint, all teak decks were renewed and the Jacuzzi was replaced. Shafts and propellers were removed, overhauled and balanced, while the stabilisers, bow thruster, anchors, watermakers and air-conditioning systems were extensively serviced.
Interior Design
The interior is much warmer than the grey exterior suggests. Dark striped timber is used around pale upholstery and carpets, with polished surfaces and lighter wall panels keeping the rooms from becoming too heavy.
The main saloon is set up around a large U-shaped sofa and low table, with formal dining immediately forward. Full-height windows run along both sides, and the dining area stays visually connected with the lounge rather than being enclosed as a separate room.
The 2025/2026 refit refreshed this part of the yacht quite extensively. Furniture in the main saloon and owner's saloon was replaced, including sofas and dining chairs, while the entertainment system was upgraded throughout. Carpets, upholstery and selected flooring were also renewed, with around 80% of the carpet replaced during the final stages of the work.
One of the more unusual parts of the layout is the second saloon on the upper deck. This belongs to the owner's level and sits between the wheelhouse and private suite, with its own seating and bar. It gives the owner a private living room away from the main guest spaces below rather than simply a larger bedroom.
The main deck also has a dedicated gym between the galley and the two forward VIP suites. It is a useful place for it because the room gets proper hull-side glazing rather than being buried somewhere beside the engine room.
Accommodation
I Sea accommodates up to 10 guests in five suites, with the cabins spread over three levels.
The owner's suite occupies the aft end of the upper deck, which is perhaps the biggest gain from the rebuild. It has a king-size bed, walk-in wardrobe, large en suite and its own private outdoor terrace across the stern. A separate owner's saloon sits just forward, so this whole part of the yacht can operate as a private apartment rather than a conventional master cabin.
Two large VIP suites sit forward on the main deck. Both are full doubles with substantial en suites, and the deck plan shows them arranged as a mirror-image pair around the centreline.
The remaining two guest cabins are on the lower deck and are configured as twins. They sit either side of the central guest lobby, with a separate playroom further forward. That is a particularly useful arrangement for families because younger guests can have their cabins and their own lounge on the same level.
Crew accommodation is for up to five, with the crew mess and cabins grouped forward on the lower deck. The captain also has a separate cabin close to the working areas.
Performance & Capabilities
I Sea is powered by twin Detroit Diesel engines and has a top speed of around 14 knots, with a cruising speed of about 12 knots.
Range is quoted at up to 2,500 nautical miles, which suits the yacht's semi-displacement hull and the more relaxed cruising brief created by the rebuild. Stabilisers operate to improve comfort underway and at anchor.
The hull and superstructure are aluminium, carrying forward the construction of the original Palmer Johnson beneath the much more extensive superstructure created during the rebuild.
Leisure & Entertainment
The main leisure deck is right at the top of the yacht. The circular Jacuzzi has a wide sunpad wrapped around it, while the rest of the sundeck is split between lounging, dining and bar areas.
The playroom on the lower deck is another good addition, particularly with the two twin cabins sitting immediately alongside it. It gives younger guests somewhere of their own without taking space from the main saloon.
