Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.15m beam and a 2.9m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 543 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Azul V is a 48.2m (158ft) CRN motor yacht whose profile reflects a different era of yacht design, one shaped by long-distance cruising rather than maximising beach clubs and waterside terraces. Originally delivered as Pegaso in 1997, her exterior combines the work of George Nicholson, Paolo Scanu and CRN, resulting in a yacht with a distinctly purposeful character and strong ocean-going credentials.

The long foredeck, gently raked bow and tiered superstructure create a classic profile that has aged remarkably well. Large oval bridge deck windows, sweeping deck lines and the broad wheelhouse glazing give the yacht a recognisable late-1990s custom yacht appearance, while avoiding the bulky look often associated with long-range displacement yachts. Her white hull and superstructure further emphasise the clean horizontal lines that run the length of the vessel.

Many of the exterior decisions stem directly from her original world-cruising brief. Near-vertical wheelhouse windows were chosen to reduce glare during long passages, while the placement of windows and bulwarks throughout the yacht was carefully considered to maximise natural light. The large tenders sit on the main deck aft rather than in an enclosed garage, a practical solution that suited the owner's plans for remote cruising and extensive diving operations.

The generous beam provides substantial outdoor living areas across three deck levels. The sundeck centres around a Jacuzzi with an integrated swim-up bar, surrounded by sunpads, chaise lounges and informal seating. A shaded exercise area sits beneath the arch structure, while the wet bar supports day-long use of the deck.

Below, the bridge deck aft serves as the yacht's principal outdoor entertaining space, with room for alfresco dining and relaxed seating. The main deck aft functions as a working deck for tender operations and water toys, while the extended swim platform added during the award-winning rebuild improves access to the water.

Interior Design

François Zuretti's original interior architecture forms the backbone of Azul V's layout. When launched as Pegaso, the yacht was designed to provide a calm, residential atmosphere rather than the glossy, highly polished interiors common during the 1990s. Zuretti favoured matte finishes, carefully selected woods and restrained detailing to create a relaxed family environment suited to extended periods aboard.

That underlying architecture remains intact, though the yacht's extensive rebuild brought a much lighter and more contemporary feel. Much of the original dark cherry joinery was refinished in lighter tones, while updated furnishings, upholstery and decorative finishes introduced a fresher, more open atmosphere without altering the yacht's fundamental layout.

The upper deck saloon remains one of the yacht's strongest spaces. Large windows flood the room with natural light, while multiple seating groups allow guests to spread out rather than gather around a single focal point. The arrangement feels more like a private residence than a charter yacht, with areas for conversation, reading or games.

On the main deck, the formal dining room reflects the yacht's family-oriented roots. Originally designed to accommodate large gatherings while remaining adaptable for smaller groups, it remains a versatile entertaining space. The layout also benefits from the yacht's extensive galley facilities, which were specified from the outset for long-range cruising and high guest numbers.

The rebuild also modernised the yacht's wellness and leisure offering. A gym, Jacuzzi, expansive deck spaces and upgraded guest amenities complement the traditional strengths of the original design, creating a yacht that blends classic custom-yacht architecture with contemporary expectations.

Accommodation

Azul V accommodates up to 12 guests across six staterooms and carries up to 11 crew.

The main deck owner's suite remains one of the yacht's defining features. Occupying the full beam, it benefits from large windows on both sides and a layout designed around privacy. A private study sits at the entrance to the suite, while the sleeping area enjoys uninterrupted views thanks to the absence of side decks in this section of the yacht. The marble bathroom includes a bathtub and steam shower.

A second full-beam suite occupies a prime position on the lower deck. Designed almost as a second owner's apartment, this VIP cabin includes a separate lounge area that can be screened off when required. The arrangement provides unusual flexibility for family cruising or charter use and gives important guests accommodation comparable to the main suite.

The remaining accommodation includes two twin cabins with Pullman berths, an additional double cabin and a single cabin. Every guest stateroom has its own ensuite facilities, and the variety of cabin types allows the yacht to accommodate families, couples or mixed charter groups with ease.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Deutz (TBD620B V12) 2,285hp engines, motor yacht Azul V is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots. With her 121,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,700 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Amenities

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Azul V also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
