Design & Construction
Designed around a planing fiberglass hull and a GRP superstructure she features a 6.4m beam and a 1.98m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 85 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
The Ferretti Yachts 850 Alter Ego blends flybridge volume with a much sleeker profile than many yachts in this size range. Based on the Ferretti 800 platform, the 850 adds a raised pilothouse, although the way it merges into the flybridge means the yacht still keeps a low and flowing silhouette. The long hull glazing and dark superstructure windows pull the eye aft, while the sharp angles around the flybridge hardtop add a slightly retro edge that still feels current today.
Wide side decks run behind high bulwarks, giving the yacht a more substantial big-yacht feel while still allowing easy movement around the exterior. Ferretti also cut notches into the bulwarks to bring more light into the interior without sacrificing internal volume for fold-out balconies.
The aft cockpit is arranged as a relaxed outdoor social space with deep seating and dining areas connected directly to the salon through large sliding glass doors. At the stern, the garage door lowers to create a swim platform while also giving access to the tender garage, which accommodates a Williams jet tender. Higher up, the optional black flybridge hardtop adds a more aggressive visual line while incorporating large glass roof panels.
Forward, the foredeck combines sunpads with lounge seating, creating another outdoor entertaining space separate from the cockpit. The overall exterior arrangement works well for owners who want several usable deck zones without the yacht feeling oversized or overly formal.
Interior Design
Inside, the Ferretti Yachts 850 Alter Ego follows the builder’s familiar approach of combining contemporary styling with a warm and practical layout. The salon uses wide side windows and clean-lined furniture to keep the space bright and open, while the arrangement avoids heavy partitions so sightlines run almost uninterrupted from aft deck to forward dining areas.
The interior styling combines pale soft furnishings with darker wood finishes, creating contrast without making the spaces feel dark or enclosed. Free-standing furniture keeps the salon flexible, while the side-deck access door to port and staircase down to the guest cabins are integrated neatly into the layout.
The raised pilothouse separates operational areas from the guest spaces and gives the captain a dedicated command centre above the main deck. Nearby, the galley benefits from additional natural light through the windscreen base skylight arrangement introduced on the 850.
Accommodation
Alter Ego accommodates up to eight guests across four en-suite cabins. The full-beam owner’s suite sits amidships and takes advantage of the yacht’s beam to create a spacious private apartment with large hull windows bringing natural light into the space.
Forward, the VIP cabin offers a second double suite for guests, while two additional twin cabins complete the layout. All guest accommodation includes en-suite bathrooms and follows the same contemporary styling seen throughout the yacht.
Crew accommodation is arranged separately aft and sleeps up to four crew across two cabins, allowing guest and operational areas to remain well separated during extended cruising.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by 1 x MAN (V12 D2862LE476) 1,900hp engines, motor yacht Alter Ego is capable of reaching a top speed of 30 knots, and comfortably cruises at 24 knots. With her 6,749 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 320 nautical miles at 26 knots. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.
Amenities
In addition, a swim platform is on hand for guests looking to cool off in the sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Alter Ego also features an inviting spread of sunpads.
