On Deck

The Sanlorenzo SP92 sits at the high performance end of the Italian builder’s superyacht range. At 28m (91.9 ft) this is a substantial yacht, yet it runs at close to 40 knots, which places it firmly in the category of high performance sports superyachts. Sanlorenzo produces a wide portfolio of yachts including larger cruising models and semi displacement yachts, but the SP line focuses on speed and dynamic handling, so the SP92 is built for owners who want a fast 92 foot yacht rather than maximum interior volume.

The stern forms a beach club positioned almost at water level, and the transom section can lower directly into the sea so steps appear as it descends. As a result the aft platform becomes a proper superyacht beach club, allowing swimmers to enter the water easily while also creating a relaxed lounge area right beside the sea. Sunbathing cushions sit at the aft end so guests can relax close to the waterline, and because the stern opens fully the entire space feels wide and open.

The transom structure also lifts upward to reveal the tender garage, which can house a tender of around 4m (13.1 ft). The garage sits beneath the aft deck and keeps the tender hidden while preserving the yacht’s sleek exterior lines.

Moving forward from the swim platform leads to the aft cockpit dining area, which functions as the main outdoor entertaining space. The deck flows directly into the interior through large sliding glass doors so the yacht can open up completely in warm weather. Sanlorenzo designed the layout to keep the sea visible at all times, so guests remain connected with the surroundings rather than enclosed behind high structures.

Side decks run forward along the hull and they are high sided so moving around the yacht remains secure even at speed. At the bow there is a sociable seating area arranged around freestanding tables. These tables sit beneath the seat cushions so they can be positioned wherever required rather than fixed in place.

The bow also houses the anchor handling equipment, while above the foredeck sits the radar unit together with a searchlight and a FLIR night vision camera used for navigation in low light conditions.

Above the main structure sits a secondary deck that is accessed via stairs concealed behind mirrored panels in the saloon. This upper level contains seating, sunbathing space and another movable table, together with satellite domes and communication systems colour matched to the yacht.

The upper deck also contains a fold away exterior helm station. When deployed it reveals joystick controls, engine throttles and multifunction navigation displays. This helm is mainly used during manoeuvring or docking because it allows the captain to control the yacht from an open air position with clear visibility.

Interior Accommodation

Interior design on the Sanlorenzo SP92 yacht reflects the builder’s well known focus on owner customisation. Sanlorenzo allows extensive choice of materials and finishes, so each yacht can look quite different depending on the owner’s specification.

The example shown here uses light finishes with white surfaces and wood detailing that create a beach house aesthetic with a subtle New England influence. The style suits the open architecture of the yacht because it reinforces the connection with the sea outside.

Large sliding glass doors link the aft cockpit with the interior so the entire area can function as one continuous entertaining space. When closed they seal the interior from the elements, but when open the yacht feels almost like an open sports yacht.

Immediately inside sits a main deck dining area positioned between the aft cockpit and the interior lounge. The floor then rises slightly toward the saloon, which creates a split level arrangement that separates the spaces without breaking the visual flow.

The main saloon sits forward and serves as the principal lounge area. Large openings run along the hull sides and sections of the bulwark are cut away so guests seated inside can look directly out across the water. Fresh air also flows through these openings so the interior retains the same open feeling as the exterior decks.

Mirrored panels along the saloon wall conceal the staircase that leads to the small upper deck and flybridge area.

Forward of the saloon sits the main helm station and bridge, which functions as the operational centre of the yacht. Multiple multifunction displays provide navigation data, vessel monitoring and onboard system control. Dedicated MAN engine displays monitor the propulsion system while autopilot controls and communications equipment sit nearby. The water jet propulsion system also uses joystick controls that allow precise manoeuvring when docking.

A day head sits close to the bridge so guests on the main deck do not need to go below.

Owner's Cabin

The owner’s suite on the Sanlorenzo SP92 occupies the forward section of the lower deck and continues the same light beach house styling used throughout the yacht.

The double bed sits centrally within the cabin so circulation remains easy, while storage units run along the surrounding walls. A dressing table sits along one side together with additional cabinetry and shelving.

Wardrobes are concealed behind flush panels that keep the interior visually clean, and a television hides behind a mirrored panel so it remains out of sight when not in use.

The ensuite bathroom connects directly to the cabin and can remain open to the bedroom or close off with sliding doors. Within the bathroom the toilet sits in its own enclosed compartment while the shower stands alongside.

Guest Accommodation

Guest accommodation occupies the remainder of the lower deck and the Sanlorenzo SP92 layout still delivers generous guest space despite the yacht’s performance focus.

One guest cabin features a double berth, wardrobes along the side and storage drawers beneath the bed. Audio visual equipment hides behind mirrored panels in the same way as in the owner’s suite, while sliding covers can close across the hull windows at night. The cabin also includes a private ensuite bathroom with shower.

Opposite sits another double guest cabin with a similar arrangement including wardrobes, concealed AV equipment and an ensuite bathroom.

Further aft there is a twin guest cabin with two single beds. Headroom remains generous and the cabin includes wardrobes, shelving and drawer storage. This cabin also has its own ensuite bathroom.

A small laundry unit sits in the guest corridor so visitors have access to washing facilities, while additional shelving and access panels provide storage and access to onboard systems.

Crew Accommodation

Crew accommodation sits forward of the helm area so service functions remain separate from guest living spaces while still allowing efficient movement around the yacht.

The galley forms the centre of this area and includes refrigeration, freezer drawers beneath the counters and a dishwasher together with storage for provisions. A crew mess sits beside the galley so the crew have a dedicated space for meals and breaks.

Two crew cabins sit nearby and they are largely identical. Each cabin contains twin bunks and its own ensuite bathroom with a separate shower. Storage lockers are integrated behind panelled cabinetry.

The primary laundry system also sits within the crew area, and a camera monitoring system allows the crew to keep an eye on activity around the yacht.

Performance & Engine Room

The engine room of the Sanlorenzo SP92 sits aft beneath the tender garage and can be accessed either through a deck hatch or through a door inside the twin guest cabin.

Power comes from two MAN V12 engines producing 2,000hp each, which gives a total output of 4,000hp. Instead of conventional propellers the SP92 uses water jet propulsion.

In a water jet system the engines drive large pumps that draw water from beneath the hull and expel it through nozzles at high speed. The reaction force pushes the yacht forward and allows significantly higher speeds than many conventional superyachts.

With this propulsion system the Sanlorenzo SP92 top speed reaches around 38 knots, while cruising speed sits close to 33 knots, which is extremely fast for a yacht approaching 92 feet in length.

Water jet propulsion also reduces draft because there are no exposed propellers beneath the hull. The SP92 draws roughly 1.2m (about 4ft) of water, which allows the yacht to access shallow anchorages that would normally be difficult for a yacht of this size.

The engine room also contains generators, air conditioning systems and the main control panels, while a Seakeeper gyro stabiliser sits centrally to reduce roll both underway and at anchor.

Ownership Considerations

Sanlorenzo delivers the yacht with a shipyard warranty that normally runs for around 12 to 24 months, which covers the hull, structural components, interior construction and the systems installed by the yard. This warranty begins from the point of delivery and the yard coordinates support through its aftersales department and dealer network during that period but many of the major systems on board come from specialist manufacturers, so those components carry their own warranties.

Delivery of a yacht in this size range also involves a commissioning phase where the yard and dealer carry out sea trials, calibrate onboard systems and ensure everything is operating as intended. During this stage owners and crew usually receive familiarisation with the yacht’s technical systems, bridge equipment and maintenance routines. For a high performance model like the Sanlorenzo SP92, which uses water jet propulsion and advanced helm systems, that handover period helps ensure the boat is operated correctly from the outset.

Sanlorenzo also supports owners through its global service network, which provides access to spare parts, technical advice and authorised service centres in many major yachting regions. For a yacht that may travel internationally during the season, this support network forms an important part of long term ownership.

For buyers considering a fast 92 foot Sanlorenzo yacht, two other rivals worth taking a look at are the Pershing 9X or the Extra X90 Fast.

In Summary

The Sanlorenzo SP92 stands out as one of the fastest yachts in the builder’s range because it combines the size and comfort of a 92 foot superyacht with the performance of a high speed sports yacht. Twin 2,000 horsepower MAN engines and water jet propulsion deliver speeds approaching 38 knots, while the shallow 1.2 metre draft allows access to anchorages that many yachts of similar size cannot reach.
