The award winning 36.4m expedition yacht Preference 19 was delivered to her owners in 2011 by Tansu. Tansu is responsible for the complete look and feel of the superyacht, having created the interior design, exterior styling and naval architecture.

Key Features

  • Main deck full-beam owner suite
  • DJ station with party setup
  • Expansive split-level aft deck
  • Flexible interior guest arrangement

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.4m beam and a 2.2m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 225 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 2008. Launched in April 2011 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in September 2011.

Exterior Design

With her distinctive angular silhouette, upright bow, and clean, utilitarian styling, Preference 19 makes an immediate impression as a compact expedition-style yacht.

The light grey hull reinforces that naval influence, while the near-plumb bow and long aft deck stretch her visual length and give her the stance of a much larger vessel.

The layout prioritises outdoor living, so deck space takes centre stage. The aft deck runs deep and wide, and it works as a working platform when loaded with a 6.5m (21.3ft) tender and sailing dinghy, then converts into a large beach club once the toys are launched. Heavy-duty doors and a raised sill add to the sense of robustness, while integrated crane arms handle launching duties and also support parasols that shade the space when in leisure mode.

Twin staircases lead up to the upper deck, where the layout shifts into a more social setting. A bar, daybeds, sunpads and loose seating create an open-air lounge, while removable Bimini tops allow the space to adapt to sun or shade. A pantry and DJ station sit aft, so the deck works well for longer afternoons or evening use.

Forward of this, a large open deck area remains deliberately flexible. Originally intended for a spa pool, it now acts as a clear, usable space for storage or additional equipment, which fits the yacht’s practical approach. Wide side decks and high bulwarks run the full length of the yacht, so movement on board feels secure and controlled even in rougher conditions.

Wide sidedecks and high bulwarks make Preference 19 a standout for safe cruising.

Interior Design

The interior follows a beach house concept, shaped by Tansu and developed with B&B Italia. Pale oak flooring runs throughout, paired with white epoxy wall panels that are durable and easy to maintain, so the finish stays consistent even with heavy use.

The main saloon is open and functional, with built-in storage concealed behind flush panels and a TV mounted forward. The space flows directly into the dining area, where a table for ten provides an indoor alternative to the exterior decks, while still keeping the same relaxed tone.

Circulation is simple and direct. A port-side passage links to the galley for discreet service, while steps to starboard lead down to the guest cabins. Forward, the layout moves into the owner’s suite, so the main deck remains clean and easy to navigate.

The bridge deck stands out due to the absence of an upper saloon above. This creates a large, open wheelhouse with a helm station, seating area and desk, so the space works as both a control centre and a quiet place to spend time underway. The captain’s cabin sits just aft, which keeps operational areas tightly connected.

Accommodation

Preference 19 accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins, with a layout that balances practicality and comfort.

The owner’s suite sits forward on the main deck and spans the full beam. Large round windows bring in natural light, while the ensuite bathroom is positioned in the bow, so the space feels open and well defined.

On the lower deck, four guest cabins include two doubles and two twins. The twin cabins each include Pullman berths, which allows the total guest capacity to reach 10. While the cabins are compact, they are efficiently arranged and finished with the same oak flooring and white panelling as the main spaces.

Crew accommodation for 7 is located forward on the lower deck and accessed via the galley, which allows service to run without crossing guest areas and keeps the flow on board consistent.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C-32) 1,300hp engines, motor yacht Preference 19 is capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 47,710 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 1,750 nautical miles at 12 knots.

The aft deck on Preference 19 is the same length as the main saloon.

Amenities

Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort.
