Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.6m beam and a 2.75m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 498 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2017 with the keel laid under the project name 'Triton'. This was the second yacht built on the 50m Steel Displacement design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in February 2020 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2021.

Exterior Design

The 49.9m (163.9ft) Heesen Arkadia is a steel displacement yacht designed by Clifford Denn, with a profile that balances long-range cruising capability with a sleek, contemporary appearance. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she combines the reassuring presence of a true ocean-going yacht with lighter, more graceful upper deck lines.

A key part of the design brief was to maximise volume while remaining below the important 500GT threshold. Arkadia's 8.6m (28.3ft) beam and carefully shaped superstructure achieve exactly that, creating generous interior and exterior spaces without moving into a larger regulatory category. The bow tapers elegantly towards the stem, while a substantial wave breaker improves forward visibility from the bridge and contributes to the yacht's efficient displacement profile.

The side profile is defined by long stretches of glazing that run almost uninterrupted from bow to stern. Unlike many yachts of this size, the design avoids heavy decorative elements, which allows natural light to penetrate deep into the interior and gives the profile a clean, uncluttered look. A forward-slanted wheelhouse adds a slightly expedition-inspired character while maintaining excellent sightlines from the bridge.

Arkadia's sundeck is one of the yacht's most impressive outdoor spaces. Designed as a versatile leisure deck, it incorporates a gym, bar, large sunpads, lounging areas and a five-person spa pool. A glass windbreak at the forward end of the hardtop protects the gym area without adding enclosed volume, while removable awnings and a carbon-fibre davit allow the space to adapt to different cruising styles. From the photographs, the sundeck appears unusually open for a yacht of this size, creating excellent views and a strong connection with the surrounding scenery.

The yacht was conceived around an active family lifestyle, so toy and tender storage received significant attention. A two-tonne crane supports the launch and recovery of tenders and watercraft, while extensive storage areas accommodate a substantial collection of equipment. The large beach club extends this focus on life around the water, incorporating a sauna, bar and day head alongside direct access to the sea via the swim platform.

Interior Design

Raymond Langton created an interior that feels calm, warm and highly liveable, with an emphasis on natural materials rather than visual drama. Light Tanganyika wood contrasts with darker American walnut, while bronze accents, natural leather and carefully selected stone surfaces add depth throughout the yacht.

Crema Marfil and Brown Armani marble feature prominently, bringing texture and character without overwhelming the spaces. Soft indirect LED lighting is integrated throughout the yacht, creating a pleasant atmosphere during the evening while allowing the interior to feel bright and open during the day.

The main saloon benefits greatly from Arkadia's extensive glazing. Large windows flood the space with natural light and provide excellent views from almost every seating position. Furniture placement remains deliberately uncluttered, which makes the room feel larger than its dimensions suggest and allows guests to focus on the surrounding scenery. A Fendi dining table sits adjacent to the glass bulwarks, creating a lovely setting for formal dining with uninterrupted sea views.

Throughout the yacht, materials and colours remain consistent. Bronze detailing, textured wall treatments, natural leathers and soft fabrics create a cohesive feel from deck to deck. The result is sophisticated without feeling overly formal, which suits Arkadia's role as a long-range family cruising yacht.

The sky lounge continues this approach with comfortable seating, a bar area and panoramic views. Carefully concealed lighting enhances architectural details and creates a relaxed atmosphere for evenings aboard.

Accommodation

Arkadia accommodates up to 10 guests in five cabins and carries up to nine crew in five crew cabins.

The owner's suite occupies a prime position on the main deck and spans the full beam of the yacht. Large windows provide excellent natural light and wide sea views, while the interior follows the same calm palette found throughout the yacht. Natural materials, soft tones and understated detailing create a quiet retreat that feels private and comfortable during extended periods aboard.

Four guest cabins are located on the lower deck. Each is designed around the same philosophy of simplicity, comfort and flexibility. True island beds provide easy access from both sides, while some cabins can convert between double and twin arrangements to suit different charter groups or family requirements.

The guest accommodation feels particularly well suited to long-range cruising. Large windows, thoughtful storage and neutral finishes create bright, welcoming spaces that avoid the enclosed feel sometimes found on displacement yachts.

Crew accommodation for nine supports a high standard of service during private or charter use.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (8V 4000 M63) 1,341hp engines, motor yacht Arkadia is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 61,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,800 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Amenities

In addition, Arkadia features a beach club where those on board can enjoy unwinding close to the water. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
